School Trips

The Importance of School Trips

At Eldwick Primary School, we believe that educational visits and experiences beyond the classroom are a vital part of children’s learning. School trips help to bring topics to life, deepen understanding, and give children opportunities to explore, question and apply what they’ve learned in real-world contexts. Whether it’s visiting a museum, exploring a local habitat, or taking part in a cultural event, these experiences make learning memorable and meaningful.

We understand that cost can sometimes be a concern for families, and we always aim to keep costs to a minimum. Every trip is carefully planned, and we share the costs equally between all children taking part. Although under Government legislation there is no obligation to contribute, schools do need to ask for voluntary contributions to cover the costs of transport, entry fees and activities. Without sufficient contributions, some trips unfortunately cannot go ahead.

Residential trips are different. Parents and carers are legally required to pay the cost of board and lodging (for example, accommodation and meals) unless they are in receipt of certain benefits that entitle them to financial support.

Your support really does make a difference. By contributing where you can, you help ensure that all children continue to benefit from these valuable learning experiences.

Should any family have difficulty making this payment, please contact school.
